Solution Architect (India)

At ChainThat, we are looking for a Solution Architect to join the team in building and implementing innovative products and solutions to revolutionise the insurance market.  ChainThat has created SaaS based, P&C focussed Policy Administration System (PAS) product suite that is needed to be configured and implemented to insurance organisations. The role reports to implementation director and will involve travel to the client locations.

Key tasks

As a Solution architect specialising in Application Architecture, you will work closely with the CTO and the head of development in other centres to assist in planning the delivery of projects in cost-effective and time-efficient manner.

  • Lead and oversee the development of complex solutions that span multiple towers and/or encompass multiple service offerings

  • Drive discovery process with the customer to understand their need for Insurance Policy Administration System (PAS) requirements.

  • Understand the customer’s operational process, their pain points, intended outcome of their requirements and provide suitable design and solutions, taking into considerations the current capabilities and future roadmap of the product.

  • Plan build or development tasks by confirming objectives and specifications with the relevant stakeholders

  • Ensure focus on Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) with special emphasis on code quality and unit testing

  • Split requirement into manageable development features or modules for the team.

  • Identify functional and non-functional constraints of the system and designs optimal solutions.

  • Debug or troubleshoot coding bugs and provides fixes for the same

  • Participate in application profile and performance benchmarking activities.

  • Bring in industry best practices to all facets of software design and delivery process

  • Occasionally involve in pre-sales activities such as product demonstrations, proposal writing etc.

  • Suggest any improvements on the implementation process.

Key skills

  • Overall experience in the range of 14 to 18 years.

  • 4+ years of experience on design and architecture.

  • 10+ years of strong software development experience of designing and coding on enterprise web-based systems.

  • Skilled in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and data modeling, with proficiency in Unified Modeling Language (UML).

  • Proficient in Java (Java 8 and above), J2EE, and build tools such as Gradle and Maven.

  • In-depth knowledge of Spring frameworks, including Spring Boot and Spring Security, along with other Java frameworks.

  • Proficient in Business Process Management (BPM) tools, with a preference for Camunda, and familiarity with jBPM, Activiti, and Pega.

  • Experience in implementing and understanding Kafka architecture for data streaming.

  • Strong background in database technologies, including Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, DB2, and experience with JDBC and ORM tools.

  • Proficient in source control and versioning tools, including Git, GitHub, BitBucket, and Subversion.

  • Knowledgeable in DevOps practices and tools such as Teamcity and Jenkins.

  • Experienced in Unit Testing with tools like JUnit 5.

  • Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (OAS) for API development and management.

  • Understanding of authentication and authorization frameworks, including OIDC (Open ID Connect) and OAuth2.

  • Experience in Agile development methodologies, promoting adaptive planning and continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of ACORD data standards.

  • Insurance Industry Experience.

  • Experience with Integration frameworks such as Apache Camel.

  • Designing and working with ESB / EAI and API gateway and management tools

  • Cloud services and platform such as Azure and/or AWS, GCP.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices – Kubernetes, Docker, etc.

  • Experience with servers such as Tomcat, JBoss and/or Websphere.

  • Best practices on log management and deriving metrics – Elastic, Logstash, Kibana

  • Consulting experience and/or Client engagement presentation skills.
